http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyaFEBI_L24 I don't know the exact person(s) who made this trailer, but I know it came from Columbia Pictures.
This is the Men in Black 3 movie trailer. It is a 1:58 minutes long. It is a little longer than the first one. It starts out a little differently. They have a green screen with information on it for 5 seconds then a black screen then 2 clips from the movie then it shows the Columbia Pictures logo, but the lady is holding a the memory eraser stick and she is wearing the men in black sunglasses. They modified the logo slightly to fit in with the movie. That usually doesn't happen that often. I think it's very creative and helps the beginning of the trailer. The scenes go a little fast in the beginning and between each scene there is a long black flash. They probably have the black flash as a transition between the scenes that do go together in the trailer. The scenes are from different parts of the movie. I like when they use the black flash for a short period of time during the trailer. It creates anticipation. It would get annoying if they did that for every transition. They have a long scene that starts at 21 seconds and ends at 37 seconds, but it's broken up into 5 small clips or different camera angles. There is one clip that is 7 seconds long. That is pretty long for one clip, but it fits well in the trailer. At 37 seconds they show a black screen that says "From Columbia Pictures." Between 42 seconds and 49 seconds each scene has a black flash transition. The flashes can be a little distracting, so they should be used sparingly. They have another 5 second long clip. The timing of the scenes slows down in the middle and then gets faster. At 58 seconds it says "This Summer" that is up for 1 ½ - 2 seconds. There is another title clip at 1:12 minutes that says "He'll have to find the answer" and that is up for 3 seconds. At 1:19 it says "In Time" for 2 seconds. At 1:38 it starts to show the Men in Black logo for 4 seconds. After the title of the movie shows, it shows another scene for 8 seconds. Then it says, "Memorial Day," and right after that it says, "In 3D and IMAX 3D."
This movie also has it's own design language. All of the titling font, size, colors, and transitions were the same. After the words popped up it showed a blue flash in the background, like the words were time jumping. This trailer has continuity with it's design language. If I saw the same words in a different place I would know that it is from MIB. It's smart to keep all of the titling the same.
The transitions I saw get used the most was a quick black flash, a slow black flash, and going straight to the next scene (no transition). I think the black flashes were over used. I liked the timing of this trailer. They had a good amount of fast and slow scenes and they spread it out throughout the trailer. This trailer seemed like it was longer than it actually was. They showed the right amount of titling too. Not too much, but enough to get straight to the point.
All 3 Men in Black movie trailers are slightly different. The first and second movie trailer shows the 2 men coming out of the logo and the last movie trailer only shows the logo. All of the trailers start in a very similar way. The design language has improved in a good way and I can tell that by seeing the titling in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, movie trailer. The first movie trailer shows a black screen with san-serif font and white lettering. The second trailer shows the same thing, but the font is slightly different (seems more stretched out) and it has a quick blue circle that flashes when the words comes up. The final trailer is similar to the second one, but the font is slightly different again (looks sharp and clean) and it also has a bigger and longer blue flash in the background. My favorite one is the last one.
Overall, I liked this movie trailer, but I think the quick black flashes got overused a little. They were a little distracting and repetitive.
