http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gte3BoXKwP0 Pocketful of Sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield. This video is 3:01 minutes long.
Music video starts out with a guy doing spray paint and a kid coloring at home while his parents are auguring. In the beginning the music video takes place in a corporate office setting. There are a few parts where they zoom up on the singer in the same outfit and setting singing the song. She jumps out of the office building with a parachute. When the singing is falling through the sky it looks fake. I think they could have made it a little bit more realistic. Between 50 and 52 seconds the singer changes outfit in the middle of the sky, but it doesn't actually show her changing outfits. After she lands on the roof a lot more people fall from the sky and land on the roof too. The extra people take off their parachute and start dancing. At 1:17 minutes the singer changes outfits again. They show the spray paint guy break through the wall on to the roof. The singer goes back and forth between multiple outfits. They show the little kid again covering his ears because his parents are arguing. The kid shows up on the rooftop with the singer and dancer. The singer starts floating up towards the sky in a giant pink flower. I'm not crazy about her dance moves in the flower. It ends with the singer in the flower looking down on the kid.
I really like the beginning of the story. I think a lot of people would feel the same way. That they want to get away from their office setting, work, or home, or go someplace else. I like how the singer opens up the office window and jumps out, but I wish her falling from the sky was more realistic. The timing of the song and the scenes went well together. I like the costuming of the singer, but I thought it was random that she changed her outfit in the middle of a piece. She went from professional to causal and fun outfit and that worked well with the song. Her acting was good in the beginning. I don't like music videos where the singers sing the whole time (you actually see them singing). I thought this music video had a good balance of singing parts and non singing parts. There is a part of the song where it says, "there's are only butterflies." When she sings that she releases a whole bunch of red butterflies, I like that part. There are some scenes where it matches the song's words, but the whole video isn't like that, which is good. I thought this was a pretty well done music video.

Barbie Girl by Aqua
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyhrYis509A Barbie Girl by Aqua. This song is 3:22 minutes long. This is an iconic song (for most people).
I really like this music video. It fits with the song perfectly. I used to play with Barbies and Barbie houses, so the colors, props, clothing, car, and places fit well with the things that went with Barbie. This music video is supposed to be cheesy, fake, and playful.
The video starts out with their logo. The actual music starts at 8 seconds into the video. The first scene is "Ken" in a pink car waiting outside of "Barbie's" house, which is pink. Barbie, which is played my the woman singer is in her garden. The whole band is in the pink car driving towards the audience. At 17 seconds their logo pops up again in English and another language. The car scene is totally fake, but I think it is supposed to be that way. They introduce the characters one at a time. The camera zooms in on a member of the band and then their name pops up. They divide the scenes into three sections with three different outfits by the same character. It also has a pink border. At 48 seconds there is a video effect where water is bubbling and moving across the screen. At 1:16 minutes Barbie goes to give her dog water, which is a stuff animal and on the side of the pink water bowl says "Aqua." It shows the band's logo on the bowl is a discreet way. They also show their logo at the bottom of the pool. At 2:28 minutes starts the night party scene. All of the band members and some extra people are at Barbie's house. Towards the end Ken accidently pulls off Barbie's arm because they are all holding hands because they are making a train. You can hear a soft popping sound when her arm comes off. I think that's funny. Then Ken is moving her arm that he popped off and Barbie looks really sad that she doesn't have her other arm. It ends with Barbie and Ken kissing each other and then a pink heart surrounds the picture. It says "The End" in the same font as the rest of the titling. It is a silly, fun font and it has a white and black outline around the letters.
At 57 seconds they divide the screen again between Barbie and Ken and there is a pink phone cord that divides the two people. I like how they used a pink phone cord instead of just a pink line to divide the two people. All of the colors are bright and vibrant. There are a lot of different transitions. It looks like the transitions are from Microsoft PowerPoint. I wouldn't like those transitions in a typically music video, but I think it works okay for this one. This video is supposed to be fun and cheesy. I like the part where Ken is waiting for Barbie in the car and he is telling her to "come on Barbie let's go party" and Barbie is taking forever to go to the car. The facial expression on Ken is funny because he is getting annoyed and inpatient with Barbie.
There are some parts in the music video where they voices don't match up. I knew the people were lip syncing, but the editors could have matched up their voices better. I know almost everything is fake in this video, but it's supposed to be that way. It's a fun video to watch. There isn't much graphic design or good video editing shown in this piece. Not ever music video has to be "well-designed" and look realistic.

Upside Down (Bouncing Off the Ceiling) by A*Teens Music Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHbUuf1Ex7Y Upside Down (Bouncing Off the Ceiling) by A*Teens
I don't think many people have heard of The A*Teens. They were a Swedish pop group. The band was active from 1998-2004. They were an ABBA tribute band. This song came out in 2000.
This music video starts in a white room with blue poles. They show a zoomed in and zoomed out angle of each band member and the screen is asymmetrically divided between the two different pictures. They show the band members walking on the ceiling. They are all dressed in white. They show the band members in a different outfit in a more playful/bedroom room. The video flips from right side up to side ways to upside. This happens a lot during the video. The guys are in one car and the girls are in another car driving. Both people are singing their parts in the song (guy and girl part). They show all of the band members in white again walking down this hallway. The people slowly get closer to the screen and then it transitions to them walking in the same position, but with different clothes on. Around 2:18 minutes the one girl singer looks like she is floating towards the screen singing. I think that is a weird and awkward part. If she is going to be that close to the screen she shouldn't appear to be floating. There are a lot of extra people dancing around 2:24 minutes.
There are a lot of transitions and video effects through this piece including reflection, turning the video upside, flickering, dividing the screen, and flipping the screen. It is very annoying that the voices don't match at all with the people lip syncing in the video. I understand that this song is called "Upside Down," but that doesn't mean flip the screen upside or sideways every five seconds. This was one of my favorite songs when I was younger and that won't change, but the music video is not that good. I think there are some good concepts and parts, but I don't think it was executed well. I thought this video was amazing when I was a little kid, but not anymore. I do like the different zoomed in and zoomed out shots and the different angles of the people and the room. I thought the place was interesting too. The video quality was poor. It was blurry and fuzzy in some spots.

Learn to Fly by Foo Fighters Music Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VQ_3sBZEm0 Learn to Fly by Foo Fighters. This music video is 4: 36 minutes long.
This is a very funny music video. I have listen to this song many times and I have never seen the music video. Jack Black is in this music video. The band members play themselves as well as other roles including woman roles (all of the band members are guys).
I like that there is a introduction before the music video starts. The characters are really funny. The costume of each character makes it believable. It takes place on an airplane.
This music video didn't have any of the band members singing in it expect for when the passengers were watching a concert on the t.v.'s above the seat. I like when the "girl" taps on one of the band members shoulder while he is sleeping so she could get his autograph. The flight attendants are serving everybody coffee, but the coffee is actually "World Domination Erotic Sleeping Powder." They also show a few scenes outside of the airplane where the airplane is taking off. Some of the people are talking in the music video, but you can't hear them. The "coffee" is effective people and everybody is acting weird and crazy. The pilots are having a hard time flying the plane because the coffee made them not think straight and have hallucinations. The plane loses control and the pilots can't fly the plane anymore, so the band members step in. While the band members are trying to figure out how to land the plane the woman flight attended pulls out a instruction manual that says "Learn to Fly." That's the name of the song. I think that's a clever way to put the title of the song into the music video without it being that noticeable. The band members successfully land the plane and the people who put drugs in the coffee got arrested. Towards the end they had scenes from a Foo Fighter concert singing the song. I don't know if I like the music video going back and forth between the airplane and the concert. They only do it a few times, so it doesn't bother me that much.
This was a interesting and creative music video. It told a story in less than 5 minutes. I like how 90% of the music video was the story and not people actually singing the song in a music video. The actors and the costumes made this video come to life. I also like how they slipped the title of the song into the video by using a manual, I thought that was clever. I didn't notice that the first time, but I did the second time. The scenes flowed nicely together expect for the real concert scenes. I liked out they made the concert look like it was on the t.v. screen on the airplane.

Cruise by Florida Georgia Line and Nelly (Remix) Music Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmZ9xRO7M9M Cruise by Florida Georgia Line and Nelly (Remix). This video is 3: 36 minutes long.
This video starts out with Nelly in his nice white car. They zoomed in on Nelly while he is talking on the phone then they zoom out. The song starts at 16 seconds. The band and nelly and some extra people are in a field with their trucks and its dark and smoky. Nelly is racing in his car and the band members are racing their Chevy trucks. They show some scenes of girls acting seductive on motorcycles and cars. They show girls dancing slow. The band members and nelly sing with the song while they are in they field. At the end they line a lot of cars up on the road and the people are walking in between the cars and in front of the cars. The last scene are the band members and Nelly walking towards the audience with smoke behind them.
I like how there is a small introduction in the beginning before the actual song starts. Nelly is talking to the band members in his car while "Cruise" is playing on his radio. The races scenes look very realistic. It looks like the filmed the race scenes in a desert looking place. I like how the camera goes back and forth between the three people in the 3 different cars. Sometimes they slow the speed of the video when the girls are dancing and other times they speed it up during the race scenes. It adds some interest to the video when they do that. They only do this a couple times. The music video fits well with the song. I imagined their music video to have some sort of racing, cars, and girls in it. The video quality is very good. None of the shots are blurry. The music matches with the people singing pretty well. Much better than other music videos.

The Fighter by Gym Class Heroes Music Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxV-OOIamyk The Fighter by Gym Class Heroes. This music video is 3:55 minutes long.
It's starts out with a young guy looking into space. I don't think it's one of the band members. I think it's just an actor. He says his name, he is an Olympic gymnastic, from New York, and he's a fighter. When he says that he is a fighter the camera turns to a side shot of his face and he actually says the sentence. Then it shows the band member playing the piano then cuts to the other guy walking in black and white. They show the whole band playing their instruments in a gym in color then it goes back to the young guy doing his exercises, washing his face, or traveling in black and white. When the young guy is in the Olympic training center it goes back to color. It goes back and forth between the band members and the young guy training. At 2:45 minutes they show a black and white video of a young boy (I think it's the same guy in the video, but younger) doing a flip off of the rings. That video is a little blurry and low quality, so it looks like a home video for a long time ago. At 2:50 minutes they show the same guy in a uniform doing flips off of the mounting vault. It looks like the actual Olympic place or practice round. Towards the end they show some more clips of the black and white video of the young boy practicing. The last scene is where they zoomed in really close to the young guy's face and he sheds a tear.
I really like this video. It is well done. This video fits perfectly with the lyrics of the song. It's interested that the video went back and forth from black and white to color. I think it worked well. It was consistent during the whole video, so it worked. I like when they show the young guy taking a picture with 5 kids in a training room. It looks like the guy is now a trainer and these kids are student. They show that scene at 3:06 minutes. I also like how they showed a home video of a young boy practicing years ago. That's a nice touch. It also shows how far this guy has come. He has been training since he was a little kid and now he is in the Olympics. I'm assuming the boy in the home video was the same guy in this music video. This music video is very inspiring. The music matched the singing of the band members pretty well. They told an amazing story in lees than 4 minutes.

That's My Kind of Night by Luke Bryan Music Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crCqWK3SmRo That's My Kind of Night by Luke Bryan. This video is 3:51 minutes long.
This is the first time I have watched this music video. I'm not a big country fan, but there are a few country/country pop songs that I like. I haven't seen a music video edited like this before. It's interesting.
It's starts off with someone lighting an arrow on fire Then he shots the fiery arrow into the sky and it lands on a pile of wood and starts a huge bon fire. The music doesn't start till 32 seconds into the video. They show Luke Bryan singing and dancing on his truck. The scenes go with the beat of the song. They pause a clip for a second and it's in black and white. Then they show Luke Bryan on half of the screen divided by a diagonal black line with the bonfire on the other side of the screen. Then they show a close up of a young woman in the water then the screen is divided into three sections: the young woman in the water, a close-up of hands clapping by the bonfire, and a close up of people walking. The video continues with this pattern through the entire video. They show a scene of something or someone, it pauses the scene for a second then turns it into black and white then the screen is divided 2, 3, or 4 times with color scenes. It's hard to explain. The whole video pretty much takes places at night by a lake in a huge field with a bonfire and a lot of young people dancing.

This was the first scene I was talking about
I like the introduction in the beginning, but I think it's a little long. I'm not sure how I feel about this video. I kind of like how it's edited, but then again a don't. It's different. I like how some of the scenes pause and turn to black and white. I like the different cuts and angles in this video. They show a lot of different scenes in a short amount of time. The music video fits perfectly with the lyrics of the song. Maybe if they didn't do so many screen divides I would like it more. I think it's an interesting edit, but I think they over used it.
