http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyhrYis509A Barbie Girl by Aqua. This song is 3:22 minutes long. This is an iconic song (for most people).
I really like this music video. It fits with the song perfectly. I used to play with Barbies and Barbie houses, so the colors, props, clothing, car, and places fit well with the things that went with Barbie. This music video is supposed to be cheesy, fake, and playful.
The video starts out with their logo. The actual music starts at 8 seconds into the video. The first scene is "Ken" in a pink car waiting outside of "Barbie's" house, which is pink. Barbie, which is played my the woman singer is in her garden. The whole band is in the pink car driving towards the audience. At 17 seconds their logo pops up again in English and another language. The car scene is totally fake, but I think it is supposed to be that way. They introduce the characters one at a time. The camera zooms in on a member of the band and then their name pops up. They divide the scenes into three sections with three different outfits by the same character. It also has a pink border. At 48 seconds there is a video effect where water is bubbling and moving across the screen. At 1:16 minutes Barbie goes to give her dog water, which is a stuff animal and on the side of the pink water bowl says "Aqua." It shows the band's logo on the bowl is a discreet way. They also show their logo at the bottom of the pool. At 2:28 minutes starts the night party scene. All of the band members and some extra people are at Barbie's house. Towards the end Ken accidently pulls off Barbie's arm because they are all holding hands because they are making a train. You can hear a soft popping sound when her arm comes off. I think that's funny. Then Ken is moving her arm that he popped off and Barbie looks really sad that she doesn't have her other arm. It ends with Barbie and Ken kissing each other and then a pink heart surrounds the picture. It says "The End" in the same font as the rest of the titling. It is a silly, fun font and it has a white and black outline around the letters.
At 57 seconds they divide the screen again between Barbie and Ken and there is a pink phone cord that divides the two people. I like how they used a pink phone cord instead of just a pink line to divide the two people. All of the colors are bright and vibrant. There are a lot of different transitions. It looks like the transitions are from Microsoft PowerPoint. I wouldn't like those transitions in a typically music video, but I think it works okay for this one. This video is supposed to be fun and cheesy. I like the part where Ken is waiting for Barbie in the car and he is telling her to "come on Barbie let's go party" and Barbie is taking forever to go to the car. The facial expression on Ken is funny because he is getting annoyed and inpatient with Barbie.
There are some parts in the music video where they voices don't match up. I knew the people were lip syncing, but the editors could have matched up their voices better. I know almost everything is fake in this video, but it's supposed to be that way. It's a fun video to watch. There isn't much graphic design or good video editing shown in this piece. Not ever music video has to be "well-designed" and look realistic.
